Vocation Awareness Week 2012

January 8-14, 2012

 

 

Events

Sunday, January 8th

  • The weekly TV Mass at 5:30 a.m. on WPVI Channel 6 will be celebrated for an increase of priestly vocations.
  • Special intention at all Sunday Masses for an increase of priestly vocations (see attached).
  • The Vocation Office’s monthly men’s prayer group, The Fraternity of St. John Vianney, will meet at 5:00 p.m. in the Neumann Room, Cathedral Rectory and conclude at 6:30 p.m. with Mass celebrated by Archbishop Chaput at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

 

Monday, January 9th

  • Every parish is asked to have Eucharistic Adoration during the day allowing the faithful the opportunity to pray for an increase of priestly vocations.
  • Exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament in all of the Diocesan High Schools. Every student will be encouraged to visit the Blessed Sacrament during the course of the day praying that they will know their vocation.
  • Archbishop Charles Chaput will preside at a special Eucharistic Gathering with the student body and faculty of Bishop Shanahan High School.
  • Seminarians from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will visit their home parish grade schools and/or CCD class to talk about vocations and to tell their own vocation story.

 

Tuesday, January 10th

  • Parish priests are asked respectfully to speak in the parish schools about their vocation story and the priesthood to as many classes as possible but with specific effort in the 6, 7, and 8th grades.
  • If there are Pastoral Council Meetings or Finance Council Meetings, pastors are respectfully asked to spend some portion of the meeting discussing the parish’s approach to promoting Vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood in their parish community.

 

Wednesday, January 11th

  • Religion/Theology classes in the grade schools and high schools are to be taught from the information provided by the Vocation Office (available on our website).

 

Thursday, January 12th

  • The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is asked to pray for an increase in Vocations for the Diocesan Priesthood, as well as for the seminarians of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The poster with all of our Philadelphia Seminarians will be distributed.

 

Sunday, January 15th

  • The weekly TV Mass at 5:30 a.m. on WPVI Channel 6 will be celebrated for an increase of priestly vocations.
  • Special intention at all Sunday Masses for an increase of priestly vocations (see above resources).
